Cheap and Easy Skirts

Hello everyone. I hope your week is good so far. I wanted to share with you what I did last week.
Lately, I've had a desire to dress more feminine. And like God's perfect timing someone shared a link through an email of how to make a skirt without a pattern. You can find it here. I was instantly curious of how many others there were. After further digging I came across this one.
Here are the results. Please keep in mind this was an experiment and one of the first things I've sewn in years. Oh, I used a full size sheet instead of a twin. I was feeling daring. lol

This is the sheet cut to the length I wanted and folded in half.

I then pinned it on the the open side. Which is the center back of the skirt.

I then sewed it up. Love straight lines!

                                Here it is closed up.

After I ironed the seam open and the waistband(casing) I pinned it in place.

Now it's ready for the elastic.

I did learn something after having to adjust the elastic a couple times to fit me. Measure the size of your waist and subtract an inch. This will give you the amount of elastic you need for any garment. At least now I know. lol

I loved that I didn't have to worry about the hem at the bottom. I personally think she's a genius. And it's less intimidating when you're a beginner. I couldn't help myself. I had to show you a close up.

                                   Wahlah! Free skirt.
