It's one of those days!

Some days we wake up and it's just one of those days. You feel it deep within. Something is amiss. There's a heaviness. Agitation begins to well up in your spirit. My sweet friend, I urge you to slow down and pause at that moment and begin to look to the cross.
Shut out all other noise and distractions. Even if for a short five minutes. Begin to worship your Savior. You will begin to feel the stress fall away. The overwhelming pain you feel in your heart will shrink to a dull ache. The injustice that you are experiencing will be turned around from seeking revenge to asking, "Lord, how can I bless them?"
When we stop and turn our attention to Jesus and worship Him for who He is; we open our hearts and minds for the power of the Holy Spirit to comfort, heal and transform our minds.

God is so good

How are you doing in your Bible reading so far? I've made it to Genesis 24. I'm really enjoying myself. It's almost like I can't get enough. If I had more time I'd be further along for sure. One of the things that stuck with me was Genesis 18 and 19. I saw this story with a whole new perspective this time. God highlighted for me the power in Abraham's intercession. If you just read those two chapters did you notice how it was pretty apparent that Lot was spiritually lost at that point? Yet, he and his family were still going to be spared. All because of Abraham's intercession and God's grace. Genesis 19:29.
With that fresh in my mind,I headed to church in the evening. And what is the subject of our study? Prayer! Last night was the first of a six week series. God definitely has my attention. I'll try to find time to share my notes from last night in another post.
I was further blessed on my way home from church. I heard this song for the first time and had to share it with you.

Cheap and Easy Skirts

Hello everyone. I hope your week is good so far. I wanted to share with you what I did last week.
Lately, I've had a desire to dress more feminine. And like God's perfect timing someone shared a link through an email of how to make a skirt without a pattern. You can find it here. I was instantly curious of how many others there were. After further digging I came across this one.
Here are the results. Please keep in mind this was an experiment and one of the first things I've sewn in years. Oh, I used a full size sheet instead of a twin. I was feeling daring. lol

This is the sheet cut to the length I wanted and folded in half.

I then pinned it on the the open side. Which is the center back of the skirt.

I then sewed it up. Love straight lines!

                                Here it is closed up.

After I ironed the seam open and the waistband(casing) I pinned it in place.

Now it's ready for the elastic.

I did learn something after having to adjust the elastic a couple times to fit me. Measure the size of your waist and subtract an inch. This will give you the amount of elastic you need for any garment. At least now I know. lol

I loved that I didn't have to worry about the hem at the bottom. I personally think she's a genius. And it's less intimidating when you're a beginner. I couldn't help myself. I had to show you a close up.

                                   Wahlah! Free skirt.

Happy New Year!!

At the beginning of a new year do you feel reflective,as I do?
I began pondering the upcoming year last week. I'm a list-maker,so maybe that's why I started a bit early. That is early right?
Two of the biggest areas I want to see improvement in, is my Bible reading and organization. I was praying for direction in these areas, something tangible I could follow. Just like God does ALL the time, He put two resources in my path.
I regretfully did not read the Bible through last year. So, this guideline is not new to me. But, I will be following it. This was shared through one of my favorite yahoo groups.
If you want to read the Bible in a year like I do, all it takes is three chapters a day! Wow! How distracted and lazy was I this past year? Please don't tell me I'm the only one. Now,if you get into stories like I do and you keep reading, we can get through the Bible in six months. All it takes is six chapter a day. Double that and it can be read in three months!
So, to recap,(here comes my list. lol)
                       3 chpts per day = 1 year
                       6 chpts per day = 6 months
                     12 chpts per day = 3 months
I did a real quick search for Bible reading schedules and found this within a minute. I love the internet.
                     www.ewordtoday.com/year
This gives you all the possible options in one quick view.
Now, for my second area of the year....organization.
I received this resource in an email from another yahoo group.

I love this! God answers me with specifically hand-tailored answers. This is the ultimate list, isn't it? It breaks it down in steps throughout the year. I don't have a lot of extra time. So, I'll be conquering the messy beast within on a consistent basis.
I'll share today's: "Think about who you want to be this coming year".- January First

What are some of your goals this year? I'd love to hear it. We need to stick together.
