Home-The Center of Family Life

Home is the center of family life!
At least that's how my Bible's topical index summarizes home as. Home is such an important topic to discuss. It's also a worthy subject to be explored and studied. Just hearing the word, 'home' immediately evokes memories for all of us. If we indulge in those memories a bit, good or bad, we can see how they have shaped us to who we are now. Those experiences are at the heart of how we view the world around us, who we believe God is and how He thinks toward us. It shows in our parenting style. And in the career path or lack of one we are on right now.
Thinking of home as the center of family life involves a lot of details and separate subjects.Who does your family consist of? What are the needs, wants and desires of each individual, including yourself.
How will those get met and by who? What is my role as a child of God, as a wife, mother and individual?
Now, that's not even including how to run our homes? Keeping it clean from all those beautiful tiny hand prints on the glass door that you just gave a good wipe down. How about how you're going to squeeze the food shopping in between the ball game and your child's doctor appointment. Oh wait, don't forget about the family pet.
You can see where I'm going, especially since you're living it.
With all that in mind doesn't 'home' deserve to be focused on even for a small portion of our day? How many of us actually write down what we want our home to be like? Even better, how many of us stop and ask God what He wants our homes to look like? I'm doing this and I invite you to begin a journal to the Lord. Write down all those thoughts. Start with what you want your home to look like. Spiritually, emotionally and physically. Seek God's face for you and your family along with me. Take time every day to slow down and see what God will do and how He will speak. This is one path in life you will be glad you set your feet upon.
